Inspiring the Next Generation: Brixton Wings Girls at ATHLOS

On Friday 18th September, 7 of our girls at Brixton Wings, accompanied by Coach Tida, had the incredible opportunity to attend ATHLOS the world's leading all-women's professional track and field meet. For one unforgettable night, our girls watched the fastest women on the planet compete up close, witnessing elite athleticism, determination, and sportsmanship at the highest level.

A Night That Means More Than Sport

For our girls, ATHLOS wasn't just a chance to watch world-class athletics it was a chance to see themselves reflected in the athletes on the track. Watching women compete for glory, prize money, and a place in history sends a powerful message to young girls: that there is space for them in sport, at every level, and that ambition in athletics is something to be celebrated.

It was a truly inspiring night for the next generation of young women in sport, and one that our girls will carry with them well beyond the evening itself.

" Taking the girls to see women compete like that, at that level, is exactly the kind of experience we want them to have. You could see it meant something to them. " — Coach Tida

Connecting to Our Wider Programme

This visit ties directly into what we work towards every week at Brixton Wings. Our Strength and Conditioning sessions at Brixton Recreation Centre, our swimming programme, and the physical confidence we help build across our wider activities are all part of the same goal: giving young people and particularly young women the tools, confidence, and belief to engage with sport and physical activity on their own terms.

Seeing elite female athletes compete at ATHLOS reinforces exactly why that work matters. It gives our girls real-world role models and a vision of what consistency, discipline, and self-belief can lead to, whether or not sport becomes a part of their future.

" Seeing women who look like me doing something incredible made it feel possible for me too." — Pillar

Thank You

A huge thank you to the whole ATHLOS team for making this opportunity possible, and to Coach Tida for accompanying our girls on the night. Experiences like this are a reminder of the power of representation and we're proud to keep connecting our young people to moments that inspire them to dream bigger.
