STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING
"Four medals, endless determination, our young people continue to prove what hard work can achieve."
Building Fitness, Focus, and Future Champions
Coach Daryl Cyprien leads weekly Strength & Conditioning sessions at Brixton Recreation Centre with Active Lambeth. Daryl’s sessions combine dynamic warm-ups, yoga-based mobility, and strength and conditioning circuits designed to improve:
Focus and concentration
Core strength and endurance
Flexibility and injury prevention
Confidence and self-discipline
Teamwork and peer motivation
Brixton Wings, with four London Youth Games medals, uses this program to prepare young people for future competitions, fostering physical and mental resilience to proudly represent their borough. Beyond training, it promotes wellbeing, healthy habits, and the value of hard work in sport and life.
Five Strength and Conditioning participants joined a 12-person team for Lambeth at this year’s London Youth Games. At our 10th appearance in the Indoor Rowing Competition, they returned with medals. Over ten years we’ve won 12 medals in individual and relay events, a record we’re very proud of.

Our weekly Strength & Conditioning sessions at Brixton Recreation Centre help young people build strength, discipline, and confidence. Led by coach Daryl, the programme prepares participants for competitions such as the London Youth Games and supports long-term physical and mental wellbeing. One shining example is Duvar, whose commitment helped him earn Lambeth’s Individual Achievement Award and a gold medal at the London Youth Games. His progress reflects the impact of structured training and the support of the Brixton Wings community.
